The Two Main Licenses: Learner’s and Permanent
There are many services that can be accessed through Vahan Sarathi dashboard, including services related to driving licences, which are available on the Parivahan Sewa rajasthan Portal and e sewa punjab.
Driving license applications, DL renewals, duplicate DL issuances, DL updates, booking driving tests, and printing or download driving licenses are just a few of the services we provide. There are two primary types of driving licences in India:
- Learner’s Licence (LL): A provisional driving licence, which allows a person to practice driving under the supervision of a licensed driver. During the first six months of validity, you will have the opportunity to extend that period by an additional six months if needed.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who want to apply for a Driving License in India through Parivahan Sewa must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
Learner’s License (LL):
- Age:
- 16 years for Minibike Fino (up to 50cc) with parental consent.
- 18 years (for a motorcycle with gear and Light Motor Vehicle (LMV)).
- A commercial vehicle is 20 years.
- Knowledge: Basic knowledge of traffic rules and signs.
Permanent Driving License (DL):
- Learner’s License must be valid for 30 days (min) and should not exceed more than 180 days.
- Should be qualified to drive the category of vehicle for which applied.
- Driving Skill Test (DST): An output-cmprised__*/ Secondaly pass the DST.
- Applicant above 40 years or commercial DL need to submit a medical certificate (Form 1A)

- Proof of Identity: Passport, voter ID, Aadhaar card, etc.
- Proof of Address: Aadhaar card, Passport, Voter ID, or a Utility Bill (no older than three months).

How to Apply for Driving Licence?
Driver licenses are divided into two categories: learner’s licence and permanent driving license. If you don’t have a driving licence, you must first apply for a learner’s licence. After 30 days of receiving the learner’s licence, you can apply for a permanent driving licence. Here are the steps you need to follow in order to apply for a driving licence:
- Visit Sarathi Parivahan Sewa Portal – parivahan.gov.in login.
- Select Driving License Related Services under “Online Services”.

In the next page, you will be presented with a selection of states and Rto vehicle owner details to choose from. Select the appropriate application type:
- New Learner’s Licence: If you are applying for a license for the first time, this is the license you will need.
- New Driving Licence: If you have already achieved your learner’s permit and are ready to complete the final steps to obtain your permanent driving license.

- Click ‘Continue’ and enter your details.
- It is important that you fill out the application form carefully and upload the required documents in the format and size specified on the form.
- In the Appointments section of the application, select a convenient date and time for your driving test.
- You can use one of the vahan online payment methods available to make your payment.
- Visit your RTO with the original documents and the payment receipt on the date scheduled. You will be issued a permanent driving license after passing the driving test.
Driving Licence Status
You can check the status of your driving licence application after you have applied:
- Visit Sarathi Parivahan website – Sarathi.parivahan.gov.in – and click on “Application Status“.
- To check your current status, enter your application number, date of birth, and the captcha displayed.

- Make sure you upload all the required documents, including Form 1-A, documents proving your address, proof of your age, and passport-size photos. You can pay the renewal fee online.
- You will need to visit your RTO on the assigned date with the original documents for verification. Your renewed driving licence will be sent to your registered address once the verification process is complete.

Driving License Download
Although you are issued a print driving licence, however, it is inclined for integration in Government sites via NIC.
1: Parivahan Sewa Portal(for printing a copy)
- Visit Parivahan Sewa Portal: Open your browser and type this URL: http://parivahan.gov.in/ and Click on- Online Services-> Driving Licence Related Services.
- Choose State: Choose your state.
- Click on “Print Driving Licence” from the Dropdown Menu of “Driving Licence”.
- Fill Details: Here you will enter either your Application Number or Driving License Number and Date of Birth, also the Captcha.

- Submit and Print: This is where your license details will appear. From there, you can press “Print” to obtain a version as a PDF file.
2: Using DigiLocker or mParivahan App (Digital Copy)
- Download App: The first thing you need to do install DigiLocker or mParivahan app from your app store.
- Login/Signup Log in: Create your account using Aadhaar number OR Mobile Number as mentioned in the details.
- Link DL: Insert your DL number to link your driving license.
- Click on Digital DL : Your digital driving license will be in the Issued Documents section. This digital version constitutes the original.

Duplicate Driving Licence
If a driver forgets, loses or has his/her license stolen, damaged or is required to have the photographs inserted again on the license.
Eligible: Your genuine DL would have to be valid.
Documents Required:
- Application Form LLD (for loss/destruction)
- Missing or Stolen License; FIR (First Information Report) Copy.
- Original License (if damaged/mutilated)
- Photocopy of original DL (It should be attested from 1 gazetted officer, in case DL lost and rubber stamp shall to mention “This copy is attested by XYZ Revenue Inspector)
- Passport-sized photographs.
- Proof of Address and Age.
- Challan clearance report (Only if you have a commercial DL)
- Prescribed fee.
Application Process
- Go to the official website of the Parivahan Sewa at parivahan gov.in and click on the “Online Services” tab.
- Click on the “Driver’s License Related Services” option and then select the state you live in.
- You will need to click on “Apply for Duplicate DL” and follow the instructions to complete the process.
- Click on the “GET DL Details” button after entering your driving license number, date of birth, and captcha.
- If the information you have provided is correct, please enter your mobile number and email address, and enter the pin code for your address.
- Click the “Proceed” button once you have selected the appropriate service, whether it be the “Issue of Duplicate DL” or the “Replacement of DL”.

- Please fill out the self-declaration form regarding your physical fitness and submit it.
- Create an account, upload documents, pay fees, and print a receipt.
- You can schedule an appointment, bring your documents to the RTO, and your duplicate or replacement driver’s license will be mailed to you after it is verified.
Access Vehicle Related Services
Sarathi Portal provides Vehicle Related Services as follows:
- Go to www.parivahan.gov.in to access the Parivahan portal.
- Click on Vehicle Related Services under Online Services.

- You can choose your state from the options on the left side of the page.
- You will now be taken to the Vahan Citizen Services website where you will be required to enter the your vehicle owner details registration number, registration authority, state, and RTO.
- To complete the process, click on the Proceed option to continue.

eChallan – Check and Payment
Here are the steps you need to follow in order to use the Parivahan portal to access eChallan services:
- Click the eChallan link in the Online Services menu on the homepage to access eChallan Parivahan.

- You will be redirected to the website echallan.parivahan.gov.in.
- You can check the status of your Challan by clicking on Check Online Services.

- To view your Challan Number, Driver License Number, or Vehicle details by number, enter the appropriate information and click Get Details.
- In the next screen, your challan information will appear, and you can pay your challan online.

Renew Your License
Getting your license renewed is like a regular check-up for your driving privileges. Here are some things you need to know:
1. Timing Is Key:
- Your license may be renewed up to a month before its expiration date.
- If your license has expired more than five years ago, you will need to apply for a new license if you haven’t already done so.
- Applying within 30 days of expiration? Your renewal is effective from the original expiration date.
- Applying after 30 days? There will be an extra ₹30 fee, and the renewal will be effective from the application date.

How do I pay an e-Challan online?
